Wise and profoundly actionable advice!. I find meditation challenging and a coach recently suggested I find whatever way works to still my mind - for me that is sipping tea and watching my chickens scratch around or listen and watch the birds in my garden. I find insights /ideas just pop into my head too as well and I have a grounded calm start for the day.
Yes, exactly, Fi! Meditating isn't just sitting still with no thoughts running through your mind. That takes a lot of practice to get to that particular state, and that doesn't have to be the ultimately goal either.
I enjoy active meditation through taking long walks with no headphone, gardening, driving with no music/audiobooks on, etc. It's incredible what amazing insights can pop up when you take away any intentional distractions from listening to your own thoughts.
Great post :-) I like journaling best as I get better results if I have a problem I want to sort out. If I'm feeling overwhelmed, I'm more likely to meditate.
Ohh, good distinctions, Wendy, and glad you know what are your go to's based on the situation you're in. I agree journaling is a great way to process your thoughts and work through problems. I love how it feels like magic sometimes.
I can process my overwhelm through journaling, too, as it allows me to calm down and process all my running thoughts. Getting it down visually in front of me helps me come up with a plan.
Of course and thank you so much for restacking this post! In our busy lives, it's good to do that soul wellness checkup to make sure we're in alignment. I know when I edge towards burnout that something's off, and I need to recenter and tweak my approach.
What are things that you do to reconnect with your soul, Lotus Empress?
The meditation always centers me and brings me back to the present moment. Like you mentioned, alignment is key. Meditation is my tool for getting back into alignment. Thank you, Kat!
