Great article Kat. We are pushed to consume by marketers who make us think that if we just had that new 65" TV, we'd be happy. If that were the case, we'd all be happy and fulfilled. We've got more clothes and electronics than any other generation in history.
We nearly kill ourselves in jobs we don't like to earn money to buy things we don't need and don't have time to use.
Loved that you mentioned this, Wendy! Consumerism is a great relatable example. Questioning the status quo is how you can break free. Instead of following what we're told to do or how to live, step back and see if those habits are really serving you.
For example, I got into the routine of purging seasonally to help me reexamine and readjust my buying habits.
Cheering you on, Jeanette. It goes to show no matter which season we're stepping into, we can do this practice at any time to help us be more aligned and truer to ourselves, our needs, and our goals.
Great advice, Kat, hope you enjoy the upcoming holiday time with yourself, friends and family. Thanks for writing this reminder about what’s really important.
Thanks, Cathy, and same to you! Glad you enjoyed this. What’s something you took away from this post and plan to implement in your own business and life?
Finding hard to describe how much I needed to read anything like this. I am going through exactly the same phase these days (strong urge to slow down) and wondering sometimes what is happening with me. But as you said we are human and badly need this recharge time. Thanks for this masterpiece.
I would like to add something though. When we go into that reset and recharge mode, we start getting in the deeper parts of our soul and realise that there are deeper reasons for our burnout. In my case, i do feel that I never processed properly the passing away of my parents and kept living the so called high end corporate life. That had a serious impact along the way
It takes courage to face what you’ve discovered, Tariq, and hope this slowdown can help you move through and heal the grief of their passing. Take the time you need, and directing you tons of love.
Awwww, thanks so much and big hug to you, Tariq. Glad this resonated, and I so agree with you that when we take these moments to pause, deeper realizations and anything unresolved show up. Think that’s why a lot of people avoid the pause because they use busyness to avoid facing these deeper feelings and reasons.

It's time to stop.

Having a clean out is a great stress reliever too!
Oh, yes. It is... clearing out what no longer serves us physically and energetically, too!
Awesome article.
Indeed, what are we rushing to? And why?
The why is exactly why I do not respond to urgency sales tactics ever. The why I purchase now is there why not mine.
I think most things can be broken down when we discover whatever the truth behind the why now? Why quickly? Why why why.
Honoring the season of life and business you find yourself in is such sane advice. And to recognise that, you need to be well rested.
I too (appoaching summer here) am setting a slower pace, with more aligned and truer goals for myself now.
